Background
In December2024, the European Commission has adopted new transparency measures to enhance public access to information on meetings between high-level officials and interest representatives, reinforcing its commitment to openness and accountability.
In line with these principles EISMEA publishes information about meetings between our management (Head of unit, Head of Department, Director) and interest representatives, aligning with the guidelines set out in the EU Transparency Register, ensuring openness in stakeholder interactions.
Scope
An interest representative is any individual, organization, or group aiming to influence EU policy, legislation, or decision-making.
A meeting refers to an encounter initiated by an interest representative or a high-level Commission official to discuss policy or legislation.
Exemptions
Certain meetings are exempt from transparency rules, including meetings with:
- Other EU institutions, bodies, or agencies
- National or local public authorities of Member States
- Third-country authorities, embassies, or international organisations
- Social partners in European social dialogue
- Political parties
- Individuals acting in a strictly personal capacity
Also exempt are:
- Spontaneous meetings
- Meetings related to legal or administrative procedures, contracts, or EU-funded grant agreements
